For the second time in less than three days, another man has been hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his legs. The most recent incident occurred shortly after midnight on Friday, April 29.

Information is that a young man who turned up to the Peebles Hospital with injuries, reportedly told Police that he was in the vicinity of the basketball court in Long Bush with other men, when a loud explosion was heard.

He also reportedly told Police that everyone ran for cover, but moments later he felt a burning sensation to his leg and quickly noticed blood pouring.

It is believed that he was shot in one leg, but the bullet exited and entered the other.

Investigations are continuing.

On Thursday, Police reported that a man stated that he was in the vicinity of Mickey's Bar in Scatliffe Alley around 11:00 pm on Wednesday when he was approached by an unidentified jeep. A man with a shirt tied around his face exited the passenger door, demanded money and then discharged several rounds of ammunition hitting the victim twice in both legs. The victim was then robbed of money, jewelry and a cellular phone.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is again encouraging members of the public who know of individuals in possession of guns to report this information confidentially to the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339. Persons who provide this information will greatly assist the officers now dedicated to the task of removing these weapons from the Territory.

Likewise, Police are encouraging persons who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the area of Scatliffe Alley after 11:00 pm on Wednesday night to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit at 494-3822.

Persons can also give information anonymously by calling the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline number 800-TIPS (8477) or give information via the police website at www.rvipolice.com under the heading "Help Us Solve a Crime".
